Diabugu School Gets New Staff Quarters

The Santa-Coloma Association of Friends of Diabugu Batapa in Spain recently handed over D400,000 staff quarters to the authorities of Diabugu Basic Cycle School in Diabugu Batapa village of Upper River Region of The Gambia.

The association has been operating in the village since 2000.

The delegation of the sponsors from Spain that attended the occasion included Mr Javier Altozano, president of the association, Roser, Packer, Sonia and Maribel.

They also visited other projects the association has been sponsoring in the village.

According to Mr Altozano, the association had been talking to people of Santa-Coloma in Spain to contribute to the national development in The Gambia, especially towards the development of Diabugu Basic Cycle School, the village health centre and other projects in the village.

Mr Altozano described Ansumana M. Drammeh, the association’s village coordinator in Diabugu, as hardworking, saying that he has the interest of his people and village.

For his part, Mr Ansumana M. Drammeh, the PTA chairman of the school, who is also the association’s village project coordinator, expressed satisfaction and joy over the achievements of the staff quarters and other projects of the school.

He therefore showered plaudits on the sponsors and the people of Spain for their support towards the school and the village since 2000.

For his part, the Vice-Principal of the School, Mr Lamin Njie, said he was overwhelmed by the invaluable assistance the association and the people of Spain have rendered over the years to his school and the village.

As part of the occasion, the association also donated items such as basketball courts, 20 delivery kits for traditional birth attendant, drugs and a solar panel to the school and the health centre in the village.
