Wafu tournament on the right track

Gambia, Sierra Leone and Benin have arrived in Nigeria for this month's WAFU Under-20 Cup competition scheduled to hold in Delta State between November 28 and December 9.

Assistant referees Badou Jasseh and Dickory Jawo, are expected to arrive Lagos on Wednesday aboard Ethiopian Airline from Abidjan while referee Bakary Papa Gassama will be arriving from Ghana on November 30.

Gassama's delay was as a result of the fact that he has been scheduled by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to officiate in the CHAN 2009 qualifier between Ghana and Nigeria this weekend in Accra.

Other match officials in town include arbiters from Niger, Senegal, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali and Gambia.
Chairman protocol, Austin Akosa revealed further that the delegations from Ghana, Liberia, Togo, Burkina Faso ansd Ivory Coast will arrive on Wednesday.

Senegal, Niger, Mauritania and Guinea Bissau will finally arrive on Thursday. Akosa disclosed that the Guinea Football delegation arrived on Monday.The delegation was led by Conde Fah.
