Nanama Keita, the deputy editor-in-chief in charge of Sports of the Daily Observer left Banjul yesterday for Lagos, Nigeria, to cover the West African Football Union (Wafu) competition.

The 16-nation football tournament is fixed between November 28 and December 8, in the former British colony. Speaking to Observer Sports shortly before his departure, Keita thanked the management of the Daily Observer, under the stewardship of Mrs Neneh Macduall-Gaye, for sponsoring his trip.

Nanama added that the trip further reaffirms the Daily Observer’s commitment to sports reporting in the country. “My trip clearly manifests the great importance Daily Observer attaches to sports reporting and I hope to keep the Gambian public posted as things unfold during the competition,” he said.
