The Gambia Association of Blood Donors (Gamblood) has changed its officially registered name to “Gamblood-National Agency for Voluntary Blood Donor Recruitment” under the certificate of change of name No. 433/2005.
According to a press release issued by Gamblood, the move was necessary and in line with the organisations expansion programme as the umbrella body for Gamblood Fans Club. The release went on to state that Gamblood’s main goal is to contribute in the reduction of infant and maternal mortality and morbidity rate in The Gambia.
It could be recalled that recently, Gamblood signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the department of state for Health and Social Welfare on blood donation advocacy.
“The Board of Governors, secretariat, executive committee and volunteers of Gamblood solicits the understanding, cooperation, involvement and support of the general public in their bid to promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation in The Gambia through advocacy”, the release stated.
