United States Grants Asylum to Ex-Major Kalifa Bajinka

According to informed sources, Kalifa Bajinka, a former Major in the Gambia National Army, has been granted political asylum in Boston, United States of America. Ex-Major Bajinka is believed to have escaped an attempt to arrest him immediately after his return on 22nd July 2006 from the federal republic of Nigeria where he had been pursuing a course.

He was reported to have fled to neighbouring Senegal where he had since been residing for the past one year until his move to the United States under political asylum granted by the US government.

Former Major Bajinka’s attempted arrest was reportedly linked to state security matters.
