A Gambian expatriate working under the UNDP Support Programme in the Upper Nile State of Southern Sudan has been praised for his performance in the formulation of the state’s annual plan and budget for 2008.

Yusupha Gomez, a development planner specialist attached to the state’s Ministry of Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, was instrumental in drawing up the first balance and zero draft budget.

This achievement prompted the Governor of the Upper Nile State to publicly heap praises on Mr Gomez and UNDP in an article published in the state’s biggest newspaper, Rafiki.

Mr Gomez, a former programme manager of Christian Children Fund (CCF) Gambia Office, has been serving under the UNDP in South Sudan since August 2007.
