EAST Londoners got to board one of the controversial arms-deal corvettes at the weekend. The 121m long SAS Mendi, the last of the four corvettes to be delivered to South Africa, was visiting the city. The visit called Operation Blue Shield was part of an initiative to make South Africans aware of career opportunities in the South African Navy.
