Ex-Springbok angler loses court bid against conviction

PROFESSIONAL hunter and ex- Springbok fly fisherman Jaques Marais bid to stay out of jail following his attempted rape conviction four years ago has suffered another blow . The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein yesterday dismissed his petition for leave to appeal against his sentence. Marais was sentenced in 2004 by the Aliwal North Regional Court to eight years imprisonment, three of which were suspended, for attempted rape, and nine months imprisonment for handling a firearm...
