The Gambian team has been awarded the fair play trophy in the just concluded Amilcar Cabral Zone II tournament held in Guinea Bissau.

This was revealed to Pointsports by Seedy MB Kinteh the President of the Gambia Football Association.

The GFA Boss, who received the news with delight, said that despite not being able to win the championship, the award is another credit to the FA.

He said, before leaving to the tournament, the players were warned to desist from unsporting behaviour and were advised to maintain discipline by President Jammeh when they called on him at State house.

“I personally advised them to always remain disciplined whenever they are representing the country in an international tournament,” he added.

The Gambia Scorpions crashed out of the Zone II tournament at group stages.
