CAF General Assembly ends in Accra

The General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) came to conclusion at the International Conference Centre in Accra, Observer Sports can reveal.

The ceremony attended by the crËme de la crËme of African Football including the President of the Gambia Football Association, Seedy Kinteh, took stock of the Associations activities during the past year and plan for the future as well.

CAF General Secretary, Mustapha Fahmy in his welcome address described the hosting of the event in Accra as historic considering Ghana’s role in development and promotion of association football.

The first day of the General Assembly was devoted to honouring past football administrators who had contributed immensely to the development of the game in Africa.

Messrs Saidi El Maamry, former President of the Football Association of Tanzania, Camara N’famara, Mr N’famara, former President of the Guinea Football Federation and Lakhdar Belloumi were honoured by CAF for their contribution towards the current state of football on the continent.

FIFA President, Joseph Sepp Blatter was the Special Guest of honour at the event, climaxed with a banquet by CAF for members.

The Day Two ceremony was marked with the submission of Zonal Unions and Financial Reports as well as the approval of the minutes of last year’s General Assembly which was held in Khartoum, Sudan, in February 2007.
