A container of materials comprising clothes, shoes and other items and worth over four thousand five hundred pounds sterling has recently been distributed to members of the National Union of Disabled Youths (NUDY). These materials were donated by Dr. Ancha Jagne Ceesay, NUDY’s goodwill ambassador in the United Kingdom (UK).
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, held at the Father Farell Memorial Hall at Westfield, Dr. Jagne Ceesay said that she has been helping NUDY for the past three years and that she looks forward to continuing her support for the organisation.
An educationalist, retired teacher and gender activist Dr. Jagne encouraged disabled youths to work hard to gain a better living, noting that disability does not mean inability.
She thanked her husband and family for all the support they have given her to enable her to help and work for the cause of disabled youth.
For his part the Imam Ratib of Banjul Alh. Chernor Kah, commended Dr, Jagne Ceesay for the support she has been giving to disabled youths over the years.
For his part, Pa Malick Ceesay, Executive Secretary of the National Youth Council thanked the donors for their generous gesture.
Sylvain Chauvet, General Manager of the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel, hailed Dr. Jagne Ceesay for the gesture. He revealed that he has employed about five disabled youths in his hotel and urged other companies to follow his example.
