German Based Gambian Donates Reflectors to GPF

A Gambian based in Germany, Modou Jobe son of Serrekunda Alkalo Seedy Jobe, donated one hundred reflectors and handcuffs to the Gambian Police Force recently.

At a press briefing at the IGP’s office in Banjul, Mr. Jobe disclosed that he is a police officer by profession in Germany. “I’ve been coming to The Gambia a lot and have realised that there are problems for the police force here particularly in the area of traffic. Traffic accidents are very common. I believe that donating these reflectors will help the traffic police in their work,” he said.

For his part the Police advisor, Famara R.I. Jammeh, thanked Modou Jobe and the family for the gesture and for being good citizens. He said people such as this contribute greatly to national development adding that this is not the first time Mr. Jobe has donated. For IGP, Jammeh said, the donation is very timely as without reflectors police work can be very dangerous. “We are very pleased that the Jobe family have donated and very thankful to the media for covering the event.”

According to the Police PRO, Sulayman Secka, the reflectors will help a lot because recently they have recently had a passing out ceremony for new police recruits who are mostly posted to the mobile traffic unit. The traffic problem, he said, is particularly bad in the provinces.

“I feel very proud and honoured by my sons actions. It’s a good idea and other people should emulate it as this will make things easy for the country. I’m advising him to continue his good work and ambitions,” said Alkalo Seedy Jobe.
