Bantaba FC Claim Knockout Trophy in S/K East

Bantaba FC were crowned winners of the 2007 Serrekunda East Knockout tournament after beating Maccasa 1-0 last Sunday.

The replayed final attracted a large number of spectators and both teams played with zeal and determination despite drawing zeros in an encounter played earlier.

Bantaba took an early lead after five minutes of play through Augustus Ndeki, who scored the only goal of the game.

At the end of the encounter, the lion’s share went to Bantaba who received a cash prize of D15, 000 with a trophy, while Maccasa collected D10, 000.

Meanwhile, the League finals between Millan FC and Maccasa will take place next Sunday.

In Serrekunda West, the winner of the League championship between Kanifing United and Gamstar Giants could not be decided last Sunday after both teams had a goal-less draw. A replay match of the final between the two teams will take place on Saturday.
