Samger’s hopes of clinching the division one crown suffered a blow after a shock defeat by Armed Forces in their Week Ninteen fixture played over the weekend.
The Soldiers beat the Serrekunda East side 2-1 on Saturday. The result, which was rather a good news for Wallidan fans, saw Samger overhauled to second spot by Hawks who beat Gamtel on Friday.
Goals from Pa Malang Ndow, Musa Manneh and Yusupha Camara earned Hawks a deserved 3-1 win over Gamtel - a result that saw the title battle open to a three-horse race.
Wallidan will, however, have a three-point leverage over fellow contenders, if they can collect the maximum points against struggling Interior today at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.
In another Week Ninteen fixture, Sea View inflicted a shock 1-0 defeat on Ports Authority to move further away from the relegation zone on Friday, while Steve Biko added to Bakau United’s woes after a 1-0 win on Saturday.
