Clash of arch rivals today

Monday, March 17, 2008
Wallidan and Real de Banjul will square up against each other in their Week Six rescheduled national league fixture today at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. The game will be no ordinary match thanks to the intense rivalry that exist between the two Banjul clubs.

Real de Banjul are yet to return to their winning ways of last season having won only one tie in five league matches (1-0 win over Sait Matty). And the absence of the star skipper Pa Landing Conateh has created a vacuum in the league champions front line.

However, Wallidan, despite a struggling start, continue to peak as the league season grows older. The Blue Boys’ 1-0 win over Armed Forces on Thursday, saw them climb up to third position on the national league table on eight points, and further win will surely keep alive their hopes of clinching the title they last won in 2005.
