Ken Jammeh faces indefinite suspension for slapping a referee

The Disciplinary Committee of The Gambia Football Association has handed an indefinite suspension on Hawks defender Ken Malaming Jammeh for slapping a referee, Observer Sports can reveal.

The Gambia under 20 skipper faces an indefinite suspension from all league and national team duties for slapping referee Mawdu Jallow during Hawks 0-2 defeat by Armed Forces on Thursday, March 6, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.

The Disciplinary Committee also handed a three-match ban on Omar Koromo and a match ban on Alieu Jagne (all Hawks players) for their involvement in the fracas.

The club’s team doctor was also given a stern warning to desist from using abusive language on match officials, as any occurrence of such act would attract strict disciplinary measures against him.

In a letter sent to the Banjul club and copied to all Division One teams, the Disciplinary Committee revealed that the decision to punish the players was reached at after a thorough scrutiny of the official match report.

These measures, the Disciplinary Committee believes, will serve as a deterrent to curb violence and unsporting behaviors from the game.

Armed Forces’ Buba Darboe capitalised on Ken Malamin Jammeh’s grave mistake to put his side forward in the first interval.
