The much awaited gala dinner, organized by the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JFP), last night, took place at the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi. Despite disruption by a downpour, the audience couldn't be denied the subsequent thrilling performance by the Senegalese Mbalax superstar, Alieu M’bai Nder, who did not mince his words during a post-dinner interview with GRTS, apparently warning Gambians of his readiness to delight his audience with his musical prowess.
Addressing a packed hall, the vice president, Aja Dr Isatou Njie Saidy, who is the chairperson of the Foundation, expressed regret over the fact that the original dinner venue had to be relocated as a result of the rains. She told a visibly understanding audience that it was regrettable that things had to happen that way, but that "human beings propose and God decides what happens next".
She however took the opportunity to hail the various sponsors of the occasion; Africell, one of the leading GSM operators in the country, being the main official sponsor. Other speakers at the occasion included the executive director of the Foundation, Mr Ansumana Jammeh, the Attorney General and SoS for Justice, Mrs Marie Saine Firdaus and Mr Bai Matarr Drammeh, all of whom form part of the board of directors of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace. They hailed the undisputable stance of the Foundation in promoting development programs in Gambian communities, assuring the gathering of an unhindered continuation of the good work.
The audience was treated to a delicious meal before being treated to thrilling performances by the artists of the night including some famous Gambian stars.
We shall bring you a pictorial of the events, in Wednesday’s edition (JFP gala dinner special).
