Sanyang Hosts Canadian Scouts

Thursday, July 26, 2007

The Kombo South village of Sanyang in the Western Region of The Gambia is currently playing host to an 18-member team of scouts from Canada.

The scouts are guests of Sanyang Scout Group and as part of their stay in the coastal village, the team would embark on community development projects alongside their Sanyang equivalents.

Speaking to The Point, Ms. Mary Lou Harnish alias Mariama explained that the projects to be embarked upon include a centre for secretarial studies, dress-making and learning fishing skills.

According to Ms. Harnish, the visit is the outcome of their meeting with one Pa Omar Bojang who talked to them about The Gambia and how to keep the scout movement alive and kicking.

She finally thanked the community of Sanyang for ‘warmly’ welcoming them as well as their hospitality.
