In David Colley Trial, Diary Keeper Testifies

Prosecution witness number two, Fatou Touray, a diary keeper at the Old Jeshwang prisons on Thursday testified in the case involving the former Director of Prisons, Mr. David Colley, at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court presided over by B.Y. Camara.

David Colley has been answering charges of theft committed whilst serving as Director of Prisons.

PW 2 informed the court that whilst on duty on September 22nd 2004, a vehicle with registration number  GPS 1, at the time under the custody of the accused, was driven into the said prison yard, having on board one Famara Sanneh and the driver of the vehicle. The gentlemen, the witness continued, met Chief Haruna Jobe and informed him that they had been sent by the accused to collect a generator whereupon the generator was handed over to them whilst she booked both the arrival and departure of the two men in the diary book. The diary book was then tendered in court as an exhibit.

The case was then adjourned to 26th July, 2007.
