The collaboration between the Gambia Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) to promote sub-regional tourism is increasingly reaping rewards.

Just last Monday, a 12-member delegation from the nook and cranny of the Ghanaian tourism sector visited the Gambia on a 5-day working visit.
The visit of the Ghanaian delegation was a follow up to the recently concluded familiarisation trip to Ghana by a cross section of the Gambia tourism stakeholders.
The objective of the return visit evolved around the consolidation of the existing collaboration and to further discuss issues of partnership in the area of sub-regional tourism and marketing.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony held at Sunbeach Hotel on Tuesday, the Marketing Director of the Gambia Tourism Authority, Mr. Lamin Saho, warmly welcomed the visiting Ghanaian delegation urging them to feel at home in the tropical sunshine paradise of The Gambia. Mr. Saho commended the Managing Director of Slok Air International Alhaji Idris Abdulkareem for facilitating the trip of the visiting Ghanaian delegation.

He went on to reveal that a comprehensive programme has been outlined to enable the Ghanaian delegation to experience the best of Gambian hospitality, the range of attractions and accommodation facilities. He added that various discussions would be held to work out a common programme and a joint promotional strategy at the level of the sub-region, particularly to increase volume of visitors to the respective countries. “The tour will be concluded with the signing of a comprehensive memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the area of joint marketing and sub-regional tourism,”   posited the GTA Marketing Director.

For his part, Mr. Alieu Secka, Chairman of the Gambia Hotel Association cum Proprietor of Golden Beach Hotel, also warmly welcomed the Ghanaian delegation, thanking them for visiting the country.
