‘Money doublers’ in court

One Muhammed Huraise Jallow and Samba both accused of being money doublers, were last Monday arraigned before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of Kanifing Magistrate Court, charged with misdemeanour, contrary to Section 365 of the Criminal laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of offense, the duo sometime in 2008 in Serekunda, attempted to double Gambian dalasis from D80,00 -D160,000. When the charge sheet was read to them, Muhammed Huraise Jallow, the first accused, pleaded guilty, while his co-accused pleaded not guilty.

At that juncture, Magistrate Mbakeh granted the two accused persons a bail at the sum of D80,000 each, with one Gambian surety. The case was adjourned to 25th February 2009.
