2 police officers subpoenaed

The Kanifing Magistrate Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo, on Monday, granted an application to subpoena two police officers, ASP Barry and Cpl Pa Malick Gibba, both attached to the Ebo Town Immigration Post, to testify in the trial of one Gibril King, who is charged with attempted robbery.

This development came following the submission of an application by the police prosecutor, sub-Inspector Fadera, to that effect. According to Fadera, the two officers, who had arrested the accused, had been called on to testify but they had never turned up.

At that juncture, Presiding Magistrate Buba Jawo granted the application, ordering that the two officers be subpoenaed.

According to the particulars of offence, on the 3rd day of September 2008, in New Jeshwang, in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused attacked one Momodou Bailo Barry with the intention to rob and take away from him the sum of D275 and a radio transistor, valued at D200.

During the previous sitting, he was granted bail in the sum of D150,000 with one Gambian surety.
