Gambia Electrical sues Slok Air

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

The Gambia Electrical Company, on Friday, filed a civil suit against Slok Air International Gambia Limited for the recovery of a sum of over D57,000, being rent due to Gambia Electrical Company.

According to the particulars of the case, Gambia Electrical Company is claiming the sum of D57,870, being rent owed by the defendant (Slok Air International Gambia Limited) after several demands to no avail, with 25%  interest per annum as of 18 February, 2008.

When the case was called before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates Court on Friday, Alfred Audu, who represented Slok Air International, said he would ask for an adjourment on the grounds that the company’s lawyer, Awa Sisay-Sabally has traveled to the United States and will be back very soon.

At that juncture, Magistrate Mbake granted Alfred Audu’s request and then adjourned the case to September 15, 2008.

In our story, yesterday, we misreported that ‘Slok Air takes on Gambia Electrical’, when it should have been the reverse.  Any inconvience caused is deeply regretted.
