Gambega Bottling and Manufacturing Company, Gambia Ltd, yesterday presented over 40 bags of rice and 21 gallons of cooking oil worth D47,000 to The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC) to distribute to Muslims within the country, at a ceremony held at its headquarters in Kanifing.

Handing over the donation, Sarja Sambou, the human resource manager, Gambega Gambia Ltd, said they started this donation in the month of Ramadan.

“We are still on our promotional campaign. Since the beginning of the Ramadan, any crate of soft drink we sell, we remove D5 and later we add the said amounts and buy materials and foodstuffs for GSIC to distribute to the Muslim community,” he said.

Mr Sambou added that Gambega will continue to donate to the GSIC for the benefit of all Gambians and that they are here for the Gambian people.

Representing the president of The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council, Imam Sheriff Badjan, 1st Vice President of GSIC, thanked Gambega for the gesture.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Gambega towards helping Muslims.

“We are working for the interest of the Muslim community. We are your servants and we are here for you,” he concluded.
