Litigants receive warning

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrate court has told litigants that he will not hesitate to deliver justice regardless of who the litigant before him was.

Magistrate Mbake was speaking on Wednesday while presiding over a civil case involving one Matarr Njie, the complainant and Mohammed Joof, a carpenter.

Matarr Njie is claiming D6500, which he is said to have paid for a set of chairs from the defendant.

Mohammad Joof told the court that he owed the complainant D6000 instead of D6500, as claimed by the complainant. In his ruling, Magistrate Mbake said most of the civil cases before him involve carpenters and radio mechanics.

Magistrate Mbake, ordered the defendant, Muhamed Joof, with the consent of the complaint, to complete and bring the set of chairs to the court premises before November 5th 2008.

Magistrate Mbake further said that if the said chairs are delivered and the complainant is satisfied with them, then the outstanding balance of D500 will no longer be an issue.
