Armitage ex-students donate to almamater

The Armitage ex-students Association, on Saturday June 14, 2008, donated brand new musical and television sets, to Armitage Senior Secondary School, as part of its annual contribution towards the development of the school.

Karamba Jawla, President of the Armitage Ex-students Association, presented the items to the Principal of the school Mr Ebrima M. Joof, during the speech and prize giving ceremony of Armitage Senior Secondary School, held at the school ground in Jangjanbureh, Central River Region.

Speaking onbehalf of the Armitage Ex-students Association, Assan Sallah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the ex-students association, said his alumni association felt obliged to do something positively inreturn for their almamater. He added that it is against this background that the ex-students association is contributing its quota towards the development of Armitage SSS.

“Over the years, the ex-students association has been engaged in fund raising activities to buy bags of rice, basins, plastic plates, hurricane lamps, mats, among others, for the school. And this year, we bought a brand new musical set and a television set for our dear brothers and sisters here in Armitage SSS”, Mr Sallah told the gathering.

He assured the school management that the ex-students association is here to stay and that one of its main objective is to support Armitage.

Mr Sallah called on all the ex-students to join the alumni association and give Armitage a helping hand. He however expressed disappointment on some of the ex- students who are not interested in giving Armitage a facelift.

PRO Sallah finally thanked President Yahya Jammeh,the Gambian leader, Tumbul Danso, General Manager of Social Security and Housing Finance Cooperation and his staff, Abdoulie Barry, Finance Director at the Medical Research Council (MRC) in Fajara, Gumbo Ali Touray, former Director of  International Affairs at the University of The Gambia, who is currently holding an international appointment in Ghana, Ebrima M. Joof, Principal of Armitage SSS and Ebrima Jarra, Computer Science teacher at Armitage SSS, for their unflinching support to Armitage SSS.
