The chief of Upper Saloum District, Central River Region (CRR) North, has disclosed that the leader of the opposition National Reconciliation Party (NRP) has been turned into an “immaterial” political figure, following his defeat in the National Assembly election by APRC’s redoubtable Sainey Mbye.
Chief Alhaji Mlalick Mbye made this declaration at a meeting in Kaur on Wednesday, attended by President Jammeh himself, senior government officials and thousands of cheering Gambians, as part of the engagements of the Dialogue with the People’s Tour.
According to the Upper Saloum chief, Hamat Bah’s defeat in 2007 National Assembly marked the beginning of the end of his political career.
“His career in politics is finished. He has gone into hiding and cannot be seen anywhere. The people of Upper Saloum are fully united and will never give him their mandate again”, he said.
Chief Mbye assured President Jammeh of his district’s support and allegiance at all times.
