DPS Njie to reappear in court on May 6

Monday, April 28, 2008
The deputy permanent secretary at the Department of State for Forestry and Environment will early next week return to Bundung Magistrates’ Court for the continuation of his trial.

DPS Momodou O. Njie will, on May 6, appear before Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara for the prosecution to open its case against him.

It would be recalled that Mr. Njie has been taken to court for impersonation as well as publication of false news. He was alleged to have, among others, made a declaration that the Daily Observer company was not the property of Amadou Samba.

The charge of publication of false news was in the meantime withdrawn whilst the prosecution sought to amend the count bordering on impersonation. The prosecution says they didn’t have sufficient evidence at their disposal to back up their case on false publication charge.
