Cameroonian, Gabonese face murder charges -2 co-accused on the run

Manyombeh Samuel Joel, a Cameroonian and Moutsinga Pascal, a Gabonese, were on Tuesday arraigned before the Bundung  Magistrates’ Court charged with murdering the late Wodjie Opoue Therese of Brusubi.

The accused persons who are facing five count charges of conspiracy to murder, trespass, assault and stealing, contrary to laws of The Gambia  pleaded not guilty to the charges peferred against them.The two are currently remanded at the State Central Prison in Mile II..

Two other co-accused persons namely, Kameni Allen Patrick and Affam absconded.

During the Tuesday proceedings, the police prosecutor, ASP Bojang, applied to the court for the case to be adjourned in order to enable him bring his witnesses on the next sitting.

The defence counsel Lamin Camara and Sheriff Tambedou, represented the first and second accused persons. The defence counsel urged the court to order the prosecutor to serve them with all the necessary documents, including statements of his witnesses to enable them better equip themselves for the case.

In her ruling, Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara, urged the prosecutor to serve the defence counsel with the said documents before the next adjournment date.

She then adjourned the case to April 22.
