Yassin Minteh, sister to the late Sheriff Minteh who was murdered on May 9, 2007, on Tuesday testified before Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara in the ongoing murder trail involving Dodou Janneh at the Bundung Magistrate court.

In her testimony, Yassin Minteh re-called on May 9, 2007, while at London Corner in Serre-kunda, on that fateful day, when her younger sister Mudow Minteh came and ask for Sheriff Minteh.“I told her that he’d just passed me while I was praying.

She came back again and this time, she told me that the Police Intervention Unit are chasing Sheriff Minteh.  Then I rushed to find out what had happened, together with Mudow ,and on arrival at the scene , we found Sheriff Minteh laying on the ground while the accused and another person standing at the scene.

I heard Sheriff telling Mudow my younger sister not to allow the accused to escape as he had stabbed him. I then rushed to a nearby telecentre to call and inform my elder brother about what had happened to Sheriff. On my return, I found that Sheriff had been moved from the scene to our compound gate and left lying on the ground”.

Yassin Minteh further told the court that it was there and then  that Sheriff asked her to get him water to drink but before she returned with the water, his eyes turned and was unable to drink the water. “A brother Kawsu Minteh took him to  Serrekunda hospital”.  She informed the court that she was not among those that followed Sheriff to the hospital but that she knew that he died from the injury that he sustained from the stabbing”. She concluded that the matter was then reported to Serrekunda Police Station where she gave a statement.

The case was then adjourned to February 12, for cross-examination of the witness by defence lawyer.
