Thursday, February 28, 2008
In the early hours of Sunday morning 02.00 hours GMT, to be precise, on the 10th of February 2007, the largely unsuspicious residents of Brusubi wake up to the reality of some fatal scuffle that resulted to the passing away of 56-year-old Wodjie Opoue Therese, an Ivorian national. Therese had been in love with Mayombe Samuel Joel, a 30-year-old Cameroonian, who went to visit the deceased at her resident in Farato only to found that she had been seeing his apparent rival, a Malian, Momodou Maiga.

An uncontrollably jealous Joel wasted no time in hiring a bush taxi that would carry him and his accomplices, among them Mousinga Pascal, a 30-year-old Gabonese citizen.

On arrival, Mayombe with his three accomplices immediately went on the offense. Their first mission was to overcome Maiga stabbing him on about six places at the back before setting on the late Therese. The two were rushed to the hospital for treatment and, unfortunately, Therese succumbed to the cold hands of death, while Maiga was admitted at the hospital for treatment and later discharged.

According to the police PRO, Inspector Sulayman Secka, who confirmed the incident, Mayombe Samuel Joel has been arrested along with Mousinga Pascal, and the duo are said to be currently aiding the police on their investigations.

Meanwhile, Inspector Secka thanked the Brusubi community for their efforts and cooperation in tracking down the culprit and his accomplice. He further advised landlords to always know and try to check the kind of people they rent their houses to.
