The “Ajusco” family group, on December 27, 2007, commemorated its third year anniversary in Brufut, with the theme focusing on “youth and illegal migration.”

Addressing youths on the occasion, Abdoulie Faye, the chairman of the group called on youths to be aware of the negative consequences of illegal migration and advised them to concentrate more on nation building than travelling abroad.  Ousman Manneh, the treasurer also called on elders to join hands with the youths, to stop travellers from using Brufut as a picking point for the sea journey.

Muhammed Lamin Marr, executive director, Save the Youths Action Group (SYAG) The Gambia, who also doubles as the guest speaker of the occasion, advised young people to wisely manage the little resources they have, by establishing smallscale businesses in this country, than to waste their resources, energy. Mr Marr then appealed to the government to consider young people by appointing some of the hardworking ones into government departments.

Kallo Ceesay, father of the group, also advised the youths of Brufut to join the “Ajusco youths”, and work together as citizens and keep away from harmful drugs.

Alhagie Yunusa Sano, Alkalo of Brufut, also expressed similar sentiments.
