‘Gas oil thief’ acquitted, discharged

Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of Brikama Magistrate Court yesterday acquitted and discharged one Momodou Bah for stealing 20 litters of gas oil in Gunjur.

This development came following the absence of the complainant in court on several occasions. The Prosecuting officer First Class Jammeh told the court that he had made all efforts to bring the complainant in court but to no avail.

Before acquitting Momodou Bah, Magistrate Jammeh said the court had no option but to acquit him, pointing out that there was an element of lack of seriousness on the side of the complainant and that the court will no longer leave the accused in remand for only 20 liters of gas oil that was already recovered since long. He then acquitted and discharged Momodou Bah.
