Gambia College students trained on sports administration

At least twenty students of Gambia College School of Education were last week trained on sports administration during a week-long course held at the college campus in Brikama.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Madame Isatou Ndow, Head of the School of Education and Agriculture, who also deputised the secretary of state for Basic and Secondary Education, commended the organisers, the Gambia National Olympic Committee, for the initiative. She challenged the participants to put the skills acquired during the course into action in their various schools.

For his part,  Mr Lamin Sanneh, Governor Western Region, who also served a course director, described sports as an avenue that can foster unity among people. He commended the participants for successfully completing the course.

Mr. Fred Lloyd-Evans, second vice-president of the National Olympic Committee, said the training is meant to help develop sports in the country. He said such course will help capacitate the nation’s sports men and women in sports administration.

Other speakers at the ceremony included Mr Alieu Cham, executive secretary, National Sports Council, Majabou Gaye and Lamin Darboe, both participants.
