Alhagie Kebba Gassama, a native of Lamin Daranka Village, who was standing trial on charges of unlawful possession of arms and ammunition and threatening violence, has said that the pistol that the Police discovered from him was a fake one and that it could not fire bullet.
Mr Gassama further adduced that the said pistol was a toy owned by his grandson.
Mr Gassama who was arraigned before Magistrate EF M’Bai yesterday told the court that he was arrested and charged by the police because of one Lamin Manjang (the complainant) who had a brawl with his shopkeeper.
When asked by his defence council, Lawyer A. Sissoho, during cross-examination on where he got the bullets from, Mr Gassama maintained that he had found the bullets from his orchard last year.
Asked where the police discovered the bullets from him, Mr Gassama said the bullets were discovered in his birthroom.
The said pistol and bullets where tendered and marked as exhibits in court.
The case was then adjourned to June 30, for continuation.
