The Brikama Magistrates' Court will strike out the case of a former Kombo East UDP candidate if the prosecution fails to produce its witness by May 15.

If what Magistrate John Njie said on Wednesday is anything to go by, then Lamin R. Darboe will be a free man if the prosecutor fails to bring in his witnesses to court on 15 May 2008.

The magistrate's warning came following several adjournments of the case as a result of the failure of the prosecution to call in witnesses to testify in the trial.

Lamin R. Darboe, it would be remembered, was arrested in Pirang shortly after the results were announced in 2006 legislative elections and is since being tried for assault.
