Lamin Kebba Jammeh, National Assembly Member for Illiassa, on behalf of his constituency, on Wednesday, donated hospital equipments to the Department of State for Health and social welfare.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Central Medical stores in Banjul, Lamin Kebba Jammeh said the donation was as a result of a gesture from a British couple Ann and Steve Gotting.
According to honourable Jammeh, the Samaritans, Ann and Steve Gotting, have been visiting The Gambia for nearly twenty years. “They are delighted to have donated the items to the people of my constituency . We also wish to donate the items to the Department of State for Health and social welfare to complement government’s efforts to boost the health care system in the country”.
The donated items included X-ray viewers, hospital beds, and uniforms for doctors and nurses, among others.
Mr and Mrs Gothing, according to Honourable Jammeh, recognised the efforts of the Gambian leader, President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh’s strive to providing better medcal services for the Gambian people.
He thanked Bakary Jammeh, a represetnative of Ann and Steve Gotting, Saint Georgest Hospital Trust - UK, Calhunn SES Ltd - UK, SES Ltd- UK, Helxm International - UK, Dogmersfiedld Infant School, and Richard Cloudsley School of the United Kingdom.
He also thanked Mr Musa Saine for all the support he rendered provided them in clearing the items from the Gambia Ports Authority.
