Willy Joof case deferred

Senior magistrate Kayode Olajubutu of the of Banjul Magistrates Court, last Friday, adjourned the criminal case involving William John Joof, a former Gambian ambassador to France, to May 28 for continuation.

This development followed the Director of Public prosecution (DPP), Emmanuel Fagbenle’s application for an adjournment of the case on the ground that the second prosecution witness, Burama Dibba, a former police crime management coordinator was indisposible.

”My lord, I’m applying for an adjournment, because the prosecution witness who is supposed to continue with the cross examination is not present,” said DPP Fagbenle.

The DPP then assured the court that he would endeavour to ensure the appearence of the witness in court on the next adjourned date.Defence counsel Lamin Camara raised no objection to the DPP”s application.
