The Gambia Scorpions will leave Banjul today for Dakar from where they will be connected to Mauritania for the second-leg of Abidjan 2009 Nations Cup qualifier tie.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, and it will come just two weeks after the Banjul first-leg tie which ended 1-1.
The Scorpions will have to stick their guns as they seek to cancel out Mauritania’s crucial away goal with at least one of their own.
Head coach Tarik Siagy has made a few changes to his previous 18-man squad with the inclusion of five new faces.
Hawks’ duo, Paul Jatta and Pierre Mendy, Armed Forces’ Joseph Jabang, Samger’s Haruna Jammeh and Real de Banjul’s Ebrima Bojang have all earned a call-up to the team at the expense of Bekai Sarr, Babucarr Sey, Pa Modou Ngum, Abdou Ceesay and Jawara.
The Egyptian coach has also strengthened his technical staff with the invitation of the Under 20 head coach Peter Bonu Johnson as Gambia hope to berth a spot in the first-ever local Nations Cup competition which is strictly meant for home-based players only.
