Abdoulie Conteh, the former mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council, yesterday appeared before Justice Yamoa of the High Court in Banjul.
When the case was mentioned, lawyer Shanaka announced his representation for the state, while Antouman Gaye assisted by Mrs Amie Joof-Conteh for Abdoulie Conteh.
Responding to the questions from the defence counsel, as to what type of case the accused is facing before the presiding judge at the High Court, the state counsel Shanaka said he was perplex to the nature of the case. According to him there are two different matters before the court. He therefore urged the court to give him time to regularise the case.
The defence counsel did not raised any objection to the submission of the state counsel. Lawyer Gaye, made mentioned of a judgement delivered in court before Justice Monagen at the High Court and a pending appeal case at the Court of Appeal.
He also took the opportunity and presented a copy of the judgement delivered by Justice Monagen. The presiding judge then adjourned the case for he state counsel to regularise the case file. The case was then adjourned to the 2nd May 2008 for continuation.
