Hearts to Africa Clocks Ten, Distributes Gifts

Hearts to Africa, a UK based charity, celebrated ten years in The Gambia recently at the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel in Banjul. The occasion saw the distribution of educational and medical equipment collected by the charity.

During the course of the anniversary celebrations ten certificates were awarded to students from various schools for academic excellence. Ambassador of Peace Awards were also presented to teachers and African friends.

Mr. Samuel Bunk, the Director of Hearts to Africa, said the ceremony was a demonstration of the efforts of the outside world. He expanded saying the charity had been successful through the years because each of the members participated in such a dedicated way in their area. He complimented the Director of the Hotel for making the hall available to them at no cost for the event.

Mr. Yakuba Bojang, coordinator of the Gambian chapter, gave a brief history of the charity in The Gambia. He outlined the main aim of the organisation as fighting poverty by ensuring quality education. Mr. Bojang used the occasion to thank the Department of State for Education for facilitating their work.

Guests at the anniversary were entertained by dancers from the Corinthia Atlantic hotel.
