World leaders: Save the world

Friday, December 14, 2007
As the dangerous and uncertain trend of events in the international arena continues, the spread of  terror and fear among nations still grips the world.

This is evident of what can be identified as the ritual misuse of power in governance. The brutal murder of innocent and defenceless victims across the world by  terrorists, the spread of diseases (such as HIV/AIDS) and hunger, drug abuse, religious confrontations, the spread of civil wars, child trafficking, the deterioration of institutional morals and the growing loss of understanding and peaceful coexistence among nations, are a cause for concern.

It is therefore incumbent on “the chosen ones” (the leaders of this world) both big and small to come together and discuss objectively to change this unpalatable cause of history. This is the only hope, for their decisions can make a difference in many lives and bring happiness and security to the doorsteps of millions affected by horror and calamity.

The destiny of the world is indeed in their hands. We need world leaders who are fully and genuinely committed to the ideal of a crisis-free world.

I strongly believe this would definitely succeed in bringing peace to the world. For, in terms of principles and values, they are similar to prophets and are duty bound to save society from the claws of disaster and doom.
