Ex-UDP Candidate’s Trial Stalls Again

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

The trial of a former UDP candidate for Bakau constituency continues to be blighted by numerous setbacks as the case was adjourned once again thanks to the absence of the defense counsel.

Mr. Nfamara Bojang’s trial could not proceed on Wednesday when his counsel, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, failed to show up in court and as a result, the prosecution officer, Inspector Saine, applied to the court for the case to be adjourned to enable the defense counsel to be part of the court proceedings.

It would be recalled that Mr. Nfamara Bojang was arrested by the Gambian police for allegedly being in possession of falsified Gambian banknotes. His arrest came barely few weeks to the legislative elections.
