Thirty sports administrators drawn from the various regions across the country are currently undergoing a sports management course at the Gambia National Olympic Resource Centre in Bakau.
The five-day training course organised by The Gambian National Olympic Committee is meant to build an administrative and management capacity for the sports administrators, as well to develop a broad base of experience in sports administrations in the country.
During the five-day gathering, the participants will focus on administrative procedure, management, identification and use of resources, revenue and expenditure for organising committees, women in sports, doping control, gender verification, how to organise sports events, as well as sports and mass media.
In an interview with this reporter, Modou Demba, Development Officer, at The Gambian National Olympic Committee said, the participants, at the end of the course, are expected to have acquired the basic knowledge in general sports administration. He said the participants are also expected to effectively disseminate the information gained to their respective regions for better sports management skills.
