Bajagarr Nawettan Kicks Off

The most awaited football tournament in Bajagarr Village in Foni Bintang kicked off on Saturday August 11, 2007 at the Village football field.

The cotton raiser of the tournament opposed Cannon FC of Bajagarr Village and Young Stars FC of Kusamai.
Young Stars first opened the scores in the 20th through Abdou Jarju, in a match, which attracted thousands of soccer fans.

But in the second half of the encounter, Cannon FC proved that they are a strong side be reckoned in the tournament.
Ebrima Manneh alias Small first netted the equaliser for Cannon FC in the 81st minute before Yusupha Ndong scored the winning goal in the 86th minute, ending Young Stars of Kusamai dream to collecting the three points.

In an interview with Pointsport, the proprietor of Bojang and Sons Metal Workshop and sponsor of the tournament said that the tournament is aimed at promoting Football in order to complement government’s effort in trying to bring sports to the doorstep of Gambians.

Mr. Bojang advised the players to maintain discipline at all time.

Other speakers at the event include Lamin Gibba a student of the University of The Gambia (UTG).
