The Young Farmers Association of Gunjur in Kombo South has commended Momodou Turo Darboe, a business tycoon, the Jammeh Foundation for Peace and other philanthropist groups for their philanthropist gestures and services to the nation.
Speaking at the association’s quarterly meeting held in Gunjur recently, the Secretary- General of the association, Mr. Abdoulie D Touray said that the association is doing well, especially in the area of supporting members in their quest for basic needs, like education.
He, however, added that efforts must be made to boost-up their standards.
According to Mr. Touray, his association should emulate Momodou Turo Darboe, the Jammeh Foundation for Peace, among others, in terms of rendering services to the nation.
“Yes some of us will be saying that we are doing very well but despite that, we still need to boost out our morals by following the steps taken by big philanthropist like Momodou Turo Darboe, Jammeh Foundation for Peace and others.
"At our age, we are doing very well but still more efforts needs to be done to meet our future targets," he stated.
Mr. Touray called on the members to do all they could to emulate Mr. Darboe and the Jammeh Foundation for Peace.
“I felt there is a need for us to emulate Mr. Darboe and Jammeh Foundation for Peace in order for us to build solidarity with them. I believe in that way, we will be able to follow their wonderful steps and to seek advice from them. Every efforts needs to be done to get contacts,’’ he concluded.
Other speakers at the ceremony included the Chairperson of the association; Ms Nyana Jammeh, Vice-Chairperson, Mr. Ebrima Janko Barrow, Public Relation Officer, Mr. Omar Sowe and other members who all supported the idea and promised to work on it.
