WODD Gives Loan To Women Groups

Women for Democracy and Development (WODD) recently presented loan to two Women Groups in Kanifing Municipality. The beneficiaries are Kunku and Churchill’s

Town Study Circle
, with each receiving D6000.

Speaking to this reporter shortly after the presentation ceremony, the Secretary-General of WODD, Mrs. Amie Sillah, said the loan given to the two groups is part of their efforts towards the improvement and empowerment of the Gambian women.

She reaffirmed his organisation’s willingness in helping women groups in the country, particularly, within the Kanifing Municipality. She urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the money received from his organisation.

, Mrs. Isatou Touray expressed her organisation’s delight with the gesture. She thanked WODD for empowering them.

According to her, they would use the loan for tie and dye, and to open a bank account.

Madam Touray hailed WODD for their support in promoting the welfare of women in the country.

According to her, since the inception of the association they have made some significant improvements, including training of its members.

For her part, Iso Jatta, a member of the Kunku Women Group, said that the loan is geared towards alleviating poverty.
