The Gambia's international reggae heart-throb, Singateh aka Freaky Joe has continued to make headways in his ongoing tour of the United States and Canada.
His latest undertaking was the recent duet song with the Malian mega star, Salif Keita during his visit to Canada .Working hard for the final release of his much anticipated 12-track CD, Singateh, believes this coming album will be one of his best creative masterpiece ever since he started music.
This album, which is currently undergoing superb recording in renowned recording studios in US, Canada as well as Germany, will feature three renowned African artists based in the US; namely: Papis of Senegal, Salif Keita of Mali, as well as another Sudanese mega star called-Dynamic.
The album will comprise different kinds of music beats ranging from reggae, dancehall, R&B, Pop and Calypso. It has now become an annual event, for the country’s prolific reggae giant to embark on such tour of the US and for the first time in Canada, to record, promote as well as make contacts with different producers and promoters in that part of the world.
Brains behind the album
According to Singateh, the upcoming album is crafted by 5 different producers around the world namely Hakim of Suns of Light in Los Angeles, Hit City Studios in Atlanta , Na20 Studios based in Toronto-Canada, Jt Production in Rhode Island, United States, as well as Ganjaman in Germany. “During my trip to Canada I met Salif Keita who appreciated my songs.
Later on I had the chance to do a duet with him in a song called ‘Tomorrow’. Already I did duet songs with big African stars here in the US including, Papis, a Senegalese born now based in the United States and Dynamic from Sudan also based in the US," Singateh explained. Singateh, currently is among few Gambian stars who are credited for their international exposure as well as breaking international spotlight.
Due to his excellent singing style and versatile stage act, Singateh earlier on staged mega concerts across major cities in the US, as well as Canada where he made surprise stage appearance, as he performed far above expectation, independent reports indicated. This enable him to get more fans in that part of the world. In making his upcoming album a standard one, Singateh is also working to have a duet with either Hakim or Bilal of Suns of Lights.
“As I told you earlier on, this album will be one of the best ever since I started releasing and it will be released sometime in March in The Gambia. Africell Company will sponsor the album. It's going to be one of a kind and one of the best in the history of Gambian showbiz. As of now I am doing some mixing and mastering plus making new videos for my new DVD with my latest videos plus live shows I had in Sweden, Germany, America and Austria as well," he said.
Upcoming intervention in the Gambia. As a budding star with a vision, Singateh has revealed support package for 8 different primary schools in the country, “the story of that will be revealed to you when I am finally in The Gambia,” Singateh revealed. The Gambian reggae-dancehall sensation, further revealed that he is planning to come to the Smiling Coast in a couple of months time, adding that this will also give him the chance to inform his fans about his new projects. "I miss my fans a lot, but they will finally receive what I have been working for them.
The album will suit all music lovers even the elderly, as it has different music styles and flavors” he said. Singateh further disclosed that after his return he will be travelling to Freetown, Sierra Leone and Nigeria to promote his music and organize concerts there too. Watch out for Singateh’s new album coming out soon in March.
