Wassu mosque committee appeals for assistance

The mosque committee and villagers of Wassu in the Central River Region have appealed to the government, parastatals, donor agencies, as well as individuals, to come to their aid in financing the construction work of their central mosque, which is at its completion stage.

The village central mosque come to a standstill for over three years now due to lack of finance. Speaking to the Daily Observer, Muhammed Lamin Yaffa, a resident of the village who is the president of the Wassu Youth Development Association (WYDA), appealed for financial assistance in a bid to enable them complete the construction work at the village central mosque.

According to him, since the beginning of the construction work of the mosque, villagers were contributing, but now, they have exhausted all their funds. Mr Yaffa thanked the Social Security Housing and Financing Cooperation (SSHFC) for donating them a sum of D5,000 towards the construction. He further hailed the efforts of Hon. Ebrima Manneh, NAM for the constituency, the Chief of the area and the community of Wassu for their effors and contribution.
