VP receives face of Gambia contestants

Her Excellency, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and secretary of state for Women’s Affairs, yesterday, received contestants of the 2008 Face of Gambia competition, at her office in State House, Banjul.

Speaking to journalists shortly after their audience with Vice President Njie-Saidy, Fatima Jabbie-Soley, the director of Fabecs Promotion, who led the delegation, said their mission to State House was meant to seek the blessing of the Government of The Gambia, through the vice president, in the organisation of the 2008 competition.

Madam Jabbie-Soley hailed President Jammeh for his hard work and stance in the empowerment of women and youths of this country.

Commenting on the 2008 competition, Madam Jabbie-Soley said it is mainly organised to promote girls education, as a means of acquiring scholarships and employment for girls, as well as giving them opportunity to expose their talents. She used the opportunity to thank all those who sponsored the 3rd edition of the Face of Gambia competition.

For his part, Peter Braima, senior communications officer of Africell, disclosed that his company is the main sponsor of this year’s Face of Gambia competition. He said  Africell is proud to be associated with any social event that is set for the interest of the public.
